Remembering McConn: Some of our best memories and closest friends from our years at Lehigh came from the McConn halls, McConn party room and wearing a McConn jersey on the playing fields. Students today have more living choices, but some options we cherished are no longer available. McConn, as a bunch of dormitory rooms, is still there. The spirited living group that spawned so many friendships is gone for today's students, but we have kept it alive. The friendships and memories remain.
McConn 1966-1979 Endowed Scholarship: Help a student and keep the memory of McConn alive! McConn House was a special place. Perpetuate the McConn Legacy. There is no other scholarship fund that emanates from a non-fraternity living group. The men of McConn 66-79 score another first!
Memories: Visit the Memories tab (and sub tabs) for a nostalgic look at Empty Kegs from 1968-1977; old housemate directories; McConn intramural & academic rankings; other McConn memories from our annual budget to the "rushing" impress sheet and a listing of (and ticket stubs for) amazing concert performances on the Lehigh campus.
The Successful McConn Experiment: From 1966 through 1979, McConn House established itself as the premier living group on campus. We held some of the best parties and hosted some of the best mixers. We competed both academically and athletically across the campus. At various times, we won the President’s Cup for intramural sports and achieved the highest house cumulative average for the year. We were an alternative to the Greek letter fraternities and filled a unique living and community opportunity that is sadly no longer available. Some members were recruited by existing house members, some were placed but all were welcomed.
When we think of our Lehigh connection, there were individual professors that made an impact, our field of study was important, the campus activities, concerts, lectures, and facilities were important, but for many of us, the living group experience was the most significant and spawned the closest relationships.
The number of McConn alumni that attended the 50ish reunion in September 2021, still gather for the Lehigh-Lafayette game and attend Zoom calls just to stay connected is remarkable. In our retirement years, McConn connections have grown - a testament to the special McConn House experience.
